DeXe DAO June Update
The first month of the summer is over with even more lines of code committed to GitHub and many updates to share.
For starters, DeXe DAO is becoming the place to learn about DAOs. In addition to our weekly DAO Digest and DeFi Digest, our Twitter Space is becoming weekly simply because of how many DAO experts want to discuss their favorite aspects of DAOs with our community.
In June, we first had a live talk on Legal Strategies for DAOs, where Taras Zharun (community proposal submitter) and Irina Heaver (crypto-native attorney) discussed the need for a legal wrapper, the role of the Council, why Switzerland is a good jurisdiction, and more. Then there was one on DAOs’ long-term sustainability with Bryan Petes of Sobol. We talked about keeping DAOs going strong with novel governance structures and sustained motivation. And just recently, we invited Ben West, the Lead of Gitcoin Grants, to talk about Grants for Public Goods and explore ideas for creating a positive feedback loop for public goods DAOs.
In July, we also expect exciting DAO experts as guests in the DAO Talks studio, starting with Stefen, Head of Growth at GovernHQ, on Wednesday, July 5th. Keep an eye on our social channels for details.
Community involvement has always been important for our DAO. In addition to asking questions during the live discussions and upskilling their DAOledge, community members can get rewarded for social activity via our LinkTree and a brand new community initiative: a monthlong quest on Zealy to be launched in July!
Meanwhile, team members have been spreading the word about DeXe and the future of DAOs offline too, visiting conferences and meetups all over the world. One such conference was a big one in Kyiv, Ukraine, the Incrypted Conference 2023, where DeXe DAO team members pitched on-stage and conducted a number of useful conversations.
Online, DeXe is in the spotlight of a number of crypto publications, including the famed Hackernoon, which published two expert opinion pieces from our core contributors. The first is titled “The Power of the Rich: How Plutocracy Undermines the DAO.” It exposes the central bottleneck of the majority of activity and/or ownership with DAOs being concentrated in the hands of a few and thus preventing true DAO decentralization. The other, “The DAO Achilles Heel: Navigating Challenges to Build an Ideal System,” goes beyond plutocracy and explores more hindrances to sustainable DAO growth.
Ukrainian publication, Speka, published our core contributor’s piece on how blockchain tech can change Ukraine (Ukrainian).
Our contributors continue to publish insightful articles on pressing DAO issues of the day, including several case studies. One, titled “Are you in a DAO without knowing it?” look at social groups that are very similar to DAOs and could benefit from formalizing into a DAO structure. This was followed up by a case study of a very big and well-known organization with DAO-like aspects in “Is the United Nations a DAO in Disguise?”
Ok, so you realize that your organization is basically a DAO and want to formalize it: but how? This guide that our contributor wrote on “Joining the DAO: Five tips on how to onboard newcomers to your DAO” will help.
Binance added $DEXE as a loanable asset in its VIP loan program. A $DEXE trading pair has also been added to the ChangeNow.io and Exolix exchanges.
Last but certainly not least, there are new proposals being submitted to our forum, like this one.
Well, that was a lot of updates to pack into one month. See you soon!
Stay tuned!
