State of the DAOs — April 4th
A massive surge in DAO treasury holdings over the past week achieved an all-time high this week due largely to the launch of the Arbitrum DAO. The number of DAO members rose too but far less dramatically.
Total DAOs: 12275
Total Treasury: 24.5B (+6.7B from previous week)
Total members: 6.8M (+113.6k from previous week)
Active members: 28%
DAOs with 100+ members: 2.1%
Not surprisingly, Arbitrum is now 2nd in the Top 5 DAOs by treasury holdings and may even overtake Optimism for the top spot.
DAO Proposals
With the dust settling a bit after the Arbitrum launch, let’s take a special look at the proposals of DAOs in the Arbitrum ecosystem.
Arbitrum itself has had the rockiest start imaginable, failing to pass its first proposal, AIP-1, which tried to get member approval for a $750M allocation to the Foundation that apparently the foundation already took without asking and started spending.
Projects that received the biggest grants from Arbitrum seem to be having a better time with proposals.
Treasure is a decentralized gaming ecosystem built on Arbitrum. It tied with GMX for the biggest allocation of ARB (8M tokens). True to its focus on gaming, it currently has an open proposal for listing the ANIMA game token on its MagicSwap AMM.
GMX is the governing entity behind Arbitrum’s most used decentralized perpetual futures exchanges. One proposal currently considered would redistribute some of the granted ARB to GMX and GLP stakers. Another proposal aims to replace UNI with ARB in the GLP pool. Both proposals are focused on staking, keeping the interests of the platform’s liquidity providers in focus.
Radiant and Sushiswap have also received significant grants of ARB and have proposals in action. Read more about how Arbitrum ecosystem projects are using their ARB grants in this DAO Times article.
Beyond Arbitrum, there is only one proposal active this week that is deemed of high-importance by Messari, with the voting in the other 3 already finished.
Meanwhile, Messari counts 23 medium-importance active proposals and 33 low-importance ones this week.
Most Active DAOs
PancakeSwap was by far the most active DAO this week, doubling the number of proposals by the next two most active DAOs, Index Coop and Decentraland.
DAO airdrop hunting
With many Arbitrum users benefiting from their ARB drop, what other future DAOs may do a token drop, rewarding useful interaction with their product?
Popular candidates include:
Arbitrum Nova (yes, it’s related to Arbitrum)
Scroll
LayerZero
Base (Coinbase’s L2 solution)

*NOTE: DeXe DAO does not endorse any of the above projects or promote airdrop farming. We just hope the airdrop will properly incentivize readers to actively and usefully contribute to DAOs.
